Accelereach was born out of the postgraduate Program in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship (PRIME) at Brown University, where Adam Emrich and Hamzah Ansari conceptualized the service. They located their first pilot site, the Vila Serena Clinics in Brazil, and then contacted the University's Computer Science Department to develop a prototype of the service. Working closely with the clinics, Nate Webb led the team which created the software for SMS communication between the clinics' counselors and outpatients. In June 2009, Nate, Adam, and Hamzah brought on Nick Drohan and enrolled in Betaspring, a Providence based start-up accelerator.
Accelereach was founded in fall 2009 and has since connected thousands of people with their health and wellness programs through the power of text messaging.

Adam received an Sc.B. in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University, as well as an Sc.M. in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship. He places a particular emphasis on understanding Accelereach's market, and welcomes any opportunity to learn more about the needs of potential users.
